Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48 KJV (c) 2016 Thomas Nelson “Be” is a present tense word. “ye” speaks to the individual (you). “Therefore” is in regard to the previously mentioned scriptures (see Matthew 5). “Perfect” has to do with our position in Christ as born again believers. (It is not of any goodness of our own. It is because of Who JESUS Is and His atoning work on the cross for the sins of humanity.) JESUS is Perfect, Sinless, and Blameless. (We are justified in The Lord through faith in His shed blood. see Romans 5 biblegteway.com) As children of GOD, we are growing in Christlikeness (being sanctified by Him. see John 17:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 10:14). We are being conformed by The Spirit into the image of JESUS. (see Romans 8:29) Our heavenly Father is preparing us to be with Him forever. (We are going from glory to glory. (see 2 Corinthians 3:18) We need JESUS for everything! We need JESUS, always! To GOD be the Glory. In JESUS’ Name. Amen.
